Kershaw Cryo Blackwash

Kershaw Cryo folding knife in Blackwash

If you look at my favorites category on this site, you’ll see a number of knives in this black, worn finish.  I really like this look, because it doesn’t show wear very fast.  The Kershaw Cryo comes in blackwash, as well as stainless.  The Blackwash model comes with the blade shown in this review, as well as a solid Tanto blade.  And if you want a slightly larger version, there’s the Cryo II.

About the Cryo.  It’s got a similar look to one of my other favorits on here, the CRKT Squid, but it’s a little larger.  The Cryo is just about the perfect size/weight for a daily carry knife.  It’s not overly bulky, and it’s solid.   This knife has Kershaw’s SpeedSafe assisted opening for fast, one-handed opening of the knife.  You can use the built-in flipper or the thumbstud to open the blade.  The carry clip can be positioned in 3 different positions, depending on how you want to carry the knife.  And it has a solid frame lock to keep the blade securely in place once you open it.

Besides looking good and giving the knife that worn look, the black-oxide BlackWash coating also enhances corrosion resistance.

The Cryo model is designed by Rick Hinderer.  Rick is a firefighter and EMT, and he knows what works and what doesn’t on the job.

Overall, I really like the Cryo.  I’ll be carrying this one on a regular basis!
